My three children – twoDzand oneattend St. Patrick’s Catholic School.Malakhiis eleven years old (infifthgrade),Mykha, isten (in fourthgrade), and Arianais six (inKindergarten). I am grateful to be able to send mychildrento a private school with the help and assistance of theTax Credit Scholarship Program.

Life hasnotalways been easy for me.Istruggled trying to figure out how to feed my children, clothethem, and provide a stable home. I have always workedtwo, sometimeseventhree, jobs to survive. I have been in college trying to better my education soI could give my children the best. It is very hardas a single motherwith little to no help, but I try my hardestevery dayto make the best of it.

Being able to send my children to a private schoolwhere their education is the top priorityis why I am working so hard. If these scholarship funds were notavailable, I would struggle even more trying to make it happen. EmpowerIllinoishas been a blessing for us! It has taken the loadoffmy shoulderstoprovidea better educationfor my children, knowing I still have a chance to make life a little bit better forthem. I will catch up a little later. Rightnow,my children succeeding is my main goal. My son wants to become a priest. He receives the knowledge, the guidance, and a great opportunity being in aCatholic school to become just that one day.

With EmpowerIllinois providingthefinancialsecurity weneed,I know we will make it just fine. So, GovernorPritzker,I come to you as a parent asking please, donottake away from our󾱱’sfuture. Some of us are living on a prayer, walking on faith, and hoping that one day we too can makeit. Itisnot easy, but I promise, wewill make it TOGETHER!

Thank you, God bless, and stay safe!
